Natalie Chapman is a figurative painter based in the small market town of Aberaeron. Her studio is situated in the craft centre and open to the public all year round. After studying Art and Design in coleg Ceredigion she has gone on to gain a first-class hons degree in fine art at coleg sir gar Carmarthen. Having exhibited in many places including the botanical gardens, Elysium Gallery and the Norweigan church Cardiff her work is always on show at her studio space. She also offers a creative framing service and art classes for all ages and abilities at her studio.
Natalies paintings depict the social relationships through bold use of colour and space. The portrayal of interpersonal dynamics is engaging yet tense. The push pull between tenderness and tension trying to capture identity and social documentary with the focus on snap-shot compositions of everyday life. Creating a sense of ambiguous tension, emptiness, boredom and anxiety.
